There are also ten key principles that
underpin how the award works. They state that the award should
be:
- Non-competitive - its about achieving your personal best;
- Available to all - for anyone who wants to take up its
challenge;
- Voluntary - you choose to join and commit your time;
- Flexible - you can design your own programme and start at which
level you want;
- Balanced - the programme has four sections which all develop
different skills;
- Progressive - each level of the award demands more time and
commitment;
- Achievement focused - you set your own goals;
- A marathon not a sprint - the time requirements are a
minimum!
- Personal development - you will develop new skills;
- Enjoyable - you should find it enjoyable and satisfying!
