Listening support service

Our listening support programme offers telephone support to people suffering from long-term illness and/or their carers.

Volunteers handle approximately 200 calls per month from people wanting information, advice or who want someone to talk to and with whom they can share their concerns and worries.

What does it involve?

Commitment

You can give as much or as little time as you wish, give a few spare hours here or there or commit to a couple of hours each week.

Role

Offering information and help and advice over the telephone.

Training

We train all St John Ambulance volunteers, you will first receive full training and support in the skills needed to carry out your role.

Locations

The listening support programme runs in the following location:

  • Newcastle.
