Facts and figures
St John Ambulance is the UK's
leading first aid charity. We believe that everyone who
needs it should receive first aid from those around them and that
no one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.
Our 43,000 volunteers are
committed to training, caring and saving lives,
helping around 124,000
casualties annually. We're also one of the country's largest youth
organisations with more than half of our members aged under 25.
Our volunteers provide first aid at high profile national as
well as local events and provide support
to the statutory services, especially in times of emergency. In addition to this we have a number
of community support programmes which
give vital assistance to some of the most vulnerable people in
society such as the homeless and the elderly.
We have a range of volunteering opportunities – from
our Community First Responder scheme
to our bathing service – all of which make an immediate and real
difference in the community.
The origins of St John Ambulance date
back to the eleventh century and since then we have continued to
provide the best medical care using the latest techniques.
