The Amalfi Challenge
If you are aged between 16 and 25 then we offer a number of
specific activities that you can take part in alongside other St
John Ambulance commitments. The 16-25 programme is aimed at older
Cadets through to young adults; to help both the transistion
between the two and also for new members who join after their 16th
birthday.
The Amalfi Challenge is the main St John Ambulance award within
the 16-25 programme. It is based on four different arms of the
Amalfi cross: challenge, service, society and relationships. In
each of the three stages of the Amalfi Challenge you have to
complete four different activities from any of the arms. Once you
have completed the three different stages you are awarded with the
Amalfi Award. You can use your Amalfi Award if you are working
towards your Duke of Edinburgh's
Award, and vice-versa.
In the West Midlands we offer activities specifically targeted
at this age group, from weekend events, Youth Assembly
opportunities as well as encouraging people to take on
responsibilities within their unit and across the county.
Members over the age of 16 can also gain a First aid at work
qualification by attending a four-day course and completing a
practical assessment. This is a nationally-recognised course and is
the standard qualification you need if you wish to help at first
aid duties such as football matches and theatres.
We're working with partner organisations to offer Millennium Volunteer
and Connexions Card
rewards to our young volunteers.
