St Patrick's Day fun!

St Patrick's Day in Birmingham

March saw the annual St Patrick’s Parade through Digbeth, Birmingham and 30 St John Ambulance volunteers were there to provide first aid to the 100,000 strong crowd.

Providing care

Volunteers from across the West Midlands were positioned along the parade route with two ambulances working alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service to provide care to those who required it in the Digbeth area.

Glen Curry, Duty Manager, stated “With an estimated 100,000 people congregated in a small area of the city it can sometimes be difficult to reach people in need quickly. We ensured that anyone requiring medical care received it quickly by providing well trained volunteers with life saving equipment along the parade route with two fully equipped ambulances specifically allocated to this event.  St John Ambulance is also proud to once again support one of the many community events we provide care for every year”

St John Ambulance in the West Midlands provides first aid cover at over 1,500 public events every year and nationally treats over 130,000 casualties per year.
