Two SJA volunteers attending a prominent festival

St John Ambulance is the UK leading first aid training organisation and is also well known for the provision of first aid at public events. But we have a lot more to offer, including emergency ambulances and automatic external defibrillator (AED) trained First Aiders.

Our service is provided by volunteers, supported by volunteer healthcare professionals and paid staff. This does not mean a second-class service. Our volunteers offer a highly skilled and professional first aid, medical and ambulance service

What we can do for your event

First aid services

For small events, we offer a visible reassuring presence for the public and our first-aiders, trained to HSE First aid at work, help you comply with your statutory obligations.

For larger events, we offer a complete range of first-aiders, advanced first-aiders (trained in the use of Automatic External Defibrillators, medical gases and trauma equipment), emergency transport attendants, paramedics, nurses and doctors.

We also have our own fleet of mobile first-aid units, air shelters, quick erect tents, ambulances and support vehicles to support the work of our volunteers.

Patient transport

Our ambulances provide patient transport services throughout the North West. This includes seated transport or stretcher for patients who cannot walk.

Accident and emergency ambulance support

To support a public event, or to fulfil the requirements of an event licence, we can provide A and E ambulances. We currently have five A and E ambulances across the county. They regularly provide  support to the North West Ambulance Service.

Specialist equipment

We also have two 4x4 ambulances for events where access is difficult. This is completed by one 4x4 support vehicle, air shelters, quick erect tents, which can be used either at a public event or the site of a major incident in support of the statutory emergency services.
