Free
AED
courses

Isle of Man St John Ambulance, in
conjunction with EuroManx, Friends Provident, The British Heart
Foundation, the George A Moore Foundations, Microgaming Trust and
Charterhouse are rolling out community based AED's for use by any
trained member of the public in an emergency.
In the UK, one person suffers a heart
attack every two minutes* but the majority could be saved
if their heart could be defibrillated (shocked back into rhythm)
within five minutes.
Free training is now available to anyone who wishes to learn
this vital skill and St John Ambulance is inviting interested
individuals or organisation to contact them for dates of courses or
advice on the purchase of defibrillators.
Anyone trained in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and
Automated External Defibrillation (AED) can save a life with the
equipment on site. The application of an
AED
in those first
crucial five minutes will increase a person's chance of
survival from 5% to over 50%.
Please note that you must already have attended a basic first
aid course covering
CPR
within the previous
year. For more information, call Lynda Osborne on 01624
674387.
