Event cover
St John Ambulance volunteers are a
familiar presence at public events in the Isle of Man.
We can provide ambulance, first aid and
medical services, tailored to the requirements of each individual
event. We can provide a range of resources including:
- qualified first aiders
- emergency ambulances and crew
- mobile treatment centres/field hospitals.
First aiders
Many our first aiders are trained to the Health and Safety
Executive First aid at work standard as a minimum, with many
acquiring additional skills. All of our first aiders are tested on
basic life support every twelve months and receive additional
training throughout the year.
Ambulances
St John Ambulance, Isle of Man own three ambulances,
with all ambulance personnel trained to the national St
John Ambulance accident and emergency attendant standard.
Mobile treatment centres
We can either provide vehicle based treatment units, or first
aid posts.
Large event cover
We have extensive experience of providing medical, first aid and
ambulance cover at many major public events, such as TT and MGP
(motorcycle events) in the Isle of Man.
If required, we have the ability to draw upon resources from the
UK.
Our role in emergencies
St John Ambulance works together with the statutory services,
local authorities, and partner organisations in preparing for and
responding to emergencies.
We have volunteers who are ready to provide support in major
emergencies including large road-traffic accidents, major
incidents, evacuations or floods. We have well rehearsed plans and
regularly take place in multi-agency exercises where our volunteers
work alongside other organisations at mock incidents.
