First aid post damaged
A first aid bus due to be used at next
month’s Southampton Boat Show has been destroyed by vandals.
Vandals wreck first aid bus
Windows and doors have been smashed and cable reels thrown into
the bus, which belongs to the Totton unit of St John Ambulance
Hampshire.
First aiders have been using the 34-year old L-reg single decker
bus as a mobile first aid post for more than 10 years.
It was last seen in public at the Netley Steam Rally in July and is
also used at many high profile events each year including the Boat
Show and the New Forest Marathon.
Robert Lankford, St John’s Emergency Planning Officer, discovered
the scene on Friday 29 August 2008.
This is really bad news for St John Ambulance – and for first aid. We use this bus to provide first aid for the community – and it is very sad to think that someone from our community can do this.
