Clive James, 43
Senior Training Officer
'I have been a paid member of staff for 10 years, but I have
been a volunteer for 34 years.
My role involves the development and overseeing of new health
and safety courses in the organisation, answering and dealing with
enquiries from counties, customers and external regulating bodies
and liaising with other departments to ensure the training needs of
members is met.
I completed an apprenticeship as a butcher but decided on a
career change and joined the ambulance service. I like dealing with
people, which I get to do a lot working at NHQ. And I like getting
out and about visiting the counties.
St John Ambulance is an organisation with a good background that is willing to develop its staff and give them opportunities to develop themselves.

Senior Training Officer
My role makes me feel as though I make a difference to the way
the organisation is developing on the training side of things;
Whilst working as a trainer, a student I had trained sent in a
letter saying that they had performed CPR that had been successful
and thanked me for training them so well.
St John Ambulance is an organisation with a good background that
is willing to develop its staff and give them opportunities to
develop themselves.'
