St John Ambulance treated 5,054 people in soaring heat at the 2007 Flora London Marathon, ensuring that most runners went on to finish the race. Seventy-three were sent to hospital for further treatment.
We will be providing first aid support – and large amounts of petroleum jelly – to runners at this year’s Flora London Marathon. The charity has been supporting the London Marathon ever since it began in 1981 and it is their largest annual duty.
