Volunteers back at Kassam Stadium

Volunteers in Oxfordshire are pleased to be back in the Kassam Stadium since the recent flooding – but under much happier circumstances.

The stadium is back to nomal after being turned into a rest centre for evacuated residents in the community during the recent floods, and volunteers who helped are happy to be back doing their normal duties.

Robin Clare, St John Ambulance Nursing Officer, said: 'All of our volunteers who helped at the Kassam Stadium are happy to be back during normal football hours.

'We are extremely proud of the work put in to making the Oxford community's stay at the Kassam as comfortable and pain free as possible. It was a difficult situation for everyone.'

St John Ambulance has been providing first aid at the ground since it opened in 2001, but also covered matches at Oxford's previous home the Manor Ground.

Volunteers work with the South Central Ambulance Service and provide a basic first aid service for the crowd and also a medical liaison service for pitch injuries.
