Roger Chatterton
Chief Commander
The role of chief commander is equivalent to
that of a non-executive chairman. Roger Chatterton will lead and
support St John Ambulance’s volunteers and staff across England,
the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
Mr Chatterton is 64, and lives in Leicestershire and London. He
is married, with three children. Since leaving Mars
Incorporated after a high-level career both in the UK and
overseas, he has assisted small businesses in developing and
implementing their strategic objectives. He has also been involved
in the voluntary sector in Leicestershire.
Roger Chatterton said: ‘I am delighted to be joining St John
Ambulance at such an important time in the charity’s
development. Our organisation is reaching out to the
community with initiatives such as new first aid courses for
families, individuals and groups, and neighbourhood first
responders.
‘I look forward to helping my 44,000 fellow
volunteers as we continue to work towards our vision: that
everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around
them, and that no-one should suffer for the lack of trained first
aiders.’
Sir Brian Jenkins, the Prior of the Priory of England and the
Islands of the Order of St John – St John Ambulance’s parent
charity, said: ‘We are delighted that Roger Chatterton is our new
Chief Commander. Roger is a first-class chairman and leader and we
believe that he will make a significant
contribution to St John, as we provide first aid services
and training at the heart of the community.’
