Honouring and caring on Remembrance Sunday
Members of St John Ambulance in London
will be honouring those who gave their lives during the two World
Wars and providing medical assistance at this Sunday's
National Act of Remembrance in Whitehall.
Dave Bell, Assistant Commissioner Operations, said: ‘In a first
aid capacity, the service is a very busy time for our organisation.
With hundreds of thousands of people turning out to pay their
respects, particularly the elderly, the cold weather and long
periods of standing can take its toll.’
‘We have been providing medical assistance at the National
Service of Remembrance for many years. Our experience gained over
those years has helped us develop a vast knowledge of how best to
cover this event, ensuring the safety of each and every person who
turns out to pay their respects.’

Amongst the 100 members deployed to the nine
treatment centres in and around Whitehall on Sunday, will be
doctors and nurses, cycle responders and teams specially trained in
extracting the ill or injured from large crowds. A small fleet of
ambulances will be on standby to transport those needing further
assistance quickly to the nearest hospital.
