Door-to-door collections taking place now
St John Ambulance is currently carrying
out a door-to-door fundraising campaign throughout the country.
Over the next few weeks specially trained students, wearing
t-shirts bearing the distinctive St John Ambulance logo and
carrying identification badges, will be calling house-to-house.
The fundraisers have been trained by specialist agency Wesser
and will not be collecting cash or cheques. Instead they will be
seeking direct debits and asking people to consider becoming
long-term supporters with a voluntarily chosen donation, for as
long as they like. Anyone wishing to do so just needs to complete a
simple form, which can be done on the doorstep.
The fundraisers are also able to answer any questions people
might have on the work of St John Ambulance, first aid training or
becoming a volunteer.
‘We depend heavily on private and corporate donations, as we
receive no Government funding in carrying out our first aid
duties,’ says Murat Ismail, Community Fundraising Manager for St
John Ambulance.
‘By working with Wesser we are able to tell people about our
charitable work, as well as raising funds, leaving our volunteers
to focus on our vision that everyone who needs first aid should
receive it from those around them.’
St John Ambulance is grateful for any donation you can give. For
your financial safety, please note we will never ask for cash or
cheques at the door, only direct debit. If you are worried about
bogus collectors then check with your local authority, local police
or neighbourhood watch who will have been warned that fundraisers
are collecting locally on our behalf. The public can always obtain
the Wesser fundraisers identification number for verification.
